A balcony or porch ceiling is the one surface people look straight up at, and in most Indian homes it is bare RCC with patchy paint or old seepage stains. Cladding it with wood-look PVC panels changes the whole entrance or balcony for far less than a wooden ceiling.
This guide covers the sizes, prices and shades of the PVC soffit panels we stock, how many you need, how they are fixed, and ideas for balconies, car porches and passages.
Quick answer: our PVC soffit panels are 10 ft long and 13.42 in wide, cover 10 sq ft each and cost ₹1,000 a piece, about ₹100 per sq ft for the panels. They come 10 to a box (100 sq ft), in 11 wood-grain shades and white. A 6 x 10 ft balcony ceiling needs about 7 panels, or roughly ₹7,000 in panels. Framing and fixing are quoted after a site visit.
What is a soffit panel?
A soffit is the underside of a structure: the ceiling of a car porch, the base of a projecting balcony, or the eaves below a roof edge. Soffit panels clad that surface. Because PVC is light, waterproof and has no timber or paper in it, it suits balcony and porch ceilings where damp and termites ruin plywood and wood.

| Ceiling | Area | Panels (with 10% extra) | Panel cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small balcony, 4 x 8 ft | 32 sq ft | 4 | ₹4,000 |
| Balcony, 6 x 10 ft | 60 sq ft | 7 | ₹7,000 |
| Passage, 4 x 20 ft | 80 sq ft | 9 | ₹9,000 |
| Car porch, 12 x 18 ft | 216 sq ft | 24 | ₹24,000 |
How PVC ceiling panels are fixed
Unlike wall panels, which are usually stuck to a flat wall with silicone adhesive, ceiling panels are fixed overhead to a simple batten framework. PVC is light, so the frame does not need the structural allowance a plywood or cement-board ceiling would. Framing and fixing depend on the ceiling and any lights, so we quote them after a site visit. Fix any seepage from the slab above first: panels hide stains, but they do not stop water.
Ideas for balconies, porches and passages
- Warm wood balcony ceiling. A mid-tone like Walnut or Teak with two or three warm downlights makes a small balcony feel like a cosy sit-out.
- Match the deck or louvers. If the balcony has wood-tone flooring or furniture, pick a ceiling shade one step lighter so the space does not feel dark.
- Car porch. Dark Oak or Dark Teak gives a strong, finished entrance and hides dust well.
- Passages and utility areas. White keeps them bright and clean-looking.
- Run the panels the long way. Panels laid along the length of a balcony make it look longer and need fewer joints.

Yes. PVC does not absorb water and has no wood or paper to rot or attract termites, which is why it suits balconies and porches. Stop any slab seepage first.
Divide the area by 10 and add 10%. A 6 x 10 ft balcony (60 sq ft) needs about 7 panels.
Our wall louvers and fluted panels are made for walls. For balcony, porch and passage ceilings, PVC soffit panels are the simpler, lighter choice.
